Description:

POSITION SUMMARY – ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST I

Under the direction of the Deputy Director/Director of Engineering Services, assists with engineering and municipal infrastructure projects, survey, design and project coordination.

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS – ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST I

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
  • Driver’s license, Class 5/7N
  • 2 years of relevant work experience

POSITION SUMMARY – ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST II

Under the direction of the Deputy Director/Director of Engineering Services, analyzes engineering and public works projects and provides survey, design, project coordination, contract development and contract administration duties

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS – ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST II

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and or Structural Engineering Technology
  • Driver’s license, Class 5/7N
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Certified or eligible for certification as an Applied Science Technologist in BC

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Microsoft Office – Word and Excel, Outlook, Drafting software AutoCAD Civil 3D, Survey software
  • Radio etiquette
  • Survey techniques and computerized engineering systems

WHETHER YOU ARE A QUALIFIED ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST I OR II, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO:

  • Communicate effectively
  • Operate a computer and office equipment
  • Operate a two-way radio/cell phone
  • Provide customer service
  • Maintain a safe worksite
  • Follow safe work practices
  • Shift priorities and multi-task
  • Coordinate project management fundamentals
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment

  • Assists in the preparation of plans and designs for the construction, maintenance and repair of District facilities and projects
  • Organizes small construction or remediation projects and monitors crews/contractors
  • Assists in the development/administration of project plans/contracts, maintains engineering activity records

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs surveys, reports on technical tests, and analyzes engineering projects
  • Prepares plans and designs for the construction, maintenance and repair of District facilities and projects
  • Organizes construction or remediation projects and performs field reviews of District crews/contractors
  • Develops/administers project plans/contracts, maintains engineering activity records
