Description:
Engineering Technologist
Reporting to the Assets & Engineering Supervisor, this role is tasked with the design and development of the distribution infrastructure, encompassing all related projects and connections. Additionally, the role provides technical information and services to utility customers or their representatives. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing cost estimates, drafting project specifications, evaluating transformers, conducting site inspections, testing equipment, and utilizing computer-aided drafting tools.

Responsibilities:
- Design and manage projects including capital, maintenance and customer-driven
- Prepare cost estimates, scope of work, and bills of materials
- Work closely with customers and their consultants in a professional
- Develop, maintain, and implement data models for the distribution
- Collect field information for all phases of a project including surveying and as-built data for
- Work with the Lakeland Power’s accounting department on economic evaluations and
- Complete single-phase meter changes from time to time and/or assist meter technicians with three-phase
- Installation and analysis of voltage and power quality equipment and associated troubleshooting and
- Review of third-party attachment applications, including as-built inspections.
- Provide specification data and equipment technical support as requested by other
- Review and validate equipment certified test reports to ensure compliance with current equipment specifications and Government regulations. (Ontario Reg. 22/04).
- Maintain Ontario 22/04 documentation and assist with the yearly audits.
- Assist in the technological growth of Lakeland Power with associated systems implementations and
- If required by the company, the applicant must be willing to enter the Mearie Meter Technician Apprenticeship Program.

Education:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering (2 year or 3 year)
- Certified Engineering Technician (C.E.T.) or capable of acquiring within two years
- Certified Technician (C.Tech.) and capable of acquiring C.E.T. status within two years
Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems and strong electrical theory.
- Must be proficient with AutoCAD and typical office productivity software applications (i.e. MS Office, Excel).
- Proficiency with SPIDAcalc and GIS is an
- Knowledge of protection and control and/or distribution automation is an asset.
- Knowledge of substation operations is an asset.
SKILLS:
- Must be self-motivated and maintain a positive attitude
- Must be detail-oriented, work well in teams and be able to demonstrate strong technical ability
- Must keep excellent records and be adept at constructively interacting with all parties.
- Metering experience is an asset.
