REIMAGINE WHAT’S POSSIBLE

Cardiff Engineering Workshop Facility Manager’s position is responsible for the management of all activities in the Cardiff Discreet Engineering Facility. This includes the management of the associated equipment and processes involved in the Manufacturing workshop; providing Operational, Quality and EHS Management Level Leadership across the site in the most efficient manner and in accordance with all safety, quality and service standards applicable within the Sub-Region Industrial Gases organisation.

These responsibilities include:

  • Full ownership of all budget, resources and productivity targets for the Discreet Engineering site, as well as all associated HR and Transport responsibilities.
  • responsible for achieving best in class service levels at the lowest possible cost. Key interfaces include the Asset Management Team, Project engineering team, Central engineering teams, Engineering maintenance team, Drivers, Customer Services, Scheduling, Safety and Quality Teams to ensure alignment on best practices and commonality of approach, as well as with the other members of the Sub Region Operations Team and Retail Organisation.
  • Success in the position is dependent on Strong Leadership, Excellent Interpersonal Skills, influencing, strategic mindset, Ability to Manage Remotely, Organisational Skills, Operational/Technical Capability, change management and understanding of compliance with relevant industry standards.

What will you do:

  • Meet the required safety performance, achieving compliance with regulatory and AP standards to create a safe working environment to effectively maintain and develop the company safety philosophy and culture.
  • Ensure that the Site Location and personnel operate within company and legislative guidelines, through the ongoing monitoring and auditing of systems to the relevant Quality, Environmental and Safety Standards.
  • Ensure full personnel compliance with the company Health, Safety & Environmental policies, and to promote and enforce compliance and awareness within the sites.
  • Manage the Assets and Resources in the Discreet Engineering site.
  • Working with cross functional teams to achieve agreed timelines.
  • Manage site operations efficiently.
  • Ensure budget management through effective control of work processes, efficient use and deployment of equipment and personnel supervision
  • Develop and deliver productivity targets for the site.
  • Manage personnel covering all HR aspects such as monitoring and ensuring up to date training of personnel on site, maintain competency assessments of all reporting personnel, carry out staff appraisal and development plans as well as recruitment activities.
  • Maintain and Control of Basic Safety Process (BSP) across the sites
  • Instigate and lead investigations into safety & quality (and operations) related incidents of note concerning the sites.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Educated to HND/HNC as a minimum in a technically based subject, preferably a Degree in Engineering Discipline
  • Strong understanding of Liquid Bulk Engineering supply chain, with the capability to learn the distribution activities that can influence asset optimization
  • Able to work across the business, forming good working relationships at all levels, leading and influencing cross functional teams.
  • Management experience in an operational role.
  • Commercial awareness when dealing with customers and applying Quality standards.
  • Commitment to and understanding of Safe Working Practices.
  • Good communication and motivational skills.
  • Team Leadership Skills
