Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The English Language Training (ELT) Coordinator supervises instructors for the adult English language program within the Migration and Refugee Services (MRS) department. The ELT Coordinator oversees a team of English language instructors and their work to include ensuring proper documentation of services, arranging class coverage when instructors are absent and developing instructors’ professional skills. The Coordinator will act as a substitute teacher when needed. The Coordinator assists in class placement and exiting students from the program as appropriate.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BS in Education or related field.
Must have 2+ years of relevant experience particularly in serving English as a Second Language learners and adult education. Supervisory experience is preferred.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Demonstrated good communication skills to successfully interact with colleagues, clients, volunteers, and service providers in a multicultural environment and with individuals with limited English speaking ability.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Second language capability desirable, but not required.
- Must be able to represent Catholic Charities in a positive manner in dress and presentation when meeting community members and demonstrate good networking skills.
- Must be comfortable in large and small groups, meeting new people, public speaking, and developing long-lasting relationships within the community.
- Must have strong writing skills and the ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, rules, and regulations to ensure programmatic and fiscal compliance.
- Must have valid driver’s license and personal transportation.
- Must be able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations.
- Must be proficient in PC skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and Internet research.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Must demonstrate self-confidence, initiative, flexibility, good supervisory skills, and a high degree of professionalism.

Responsibilities:
- Supports the English Language Training (ELT) Manager by assisting with class composition to include managing class capacity and referring students to outside programs upon graduation.
- Helps to select or develop curriculum for the program.
- Supervises ELT Instructor(s) and promotes their professional development.
- Facilitates coverage of classes and acts as a substitute teacher when needed.
- Oversees the completion and submission of participation documentation for eligible clients enrolled in public benefits and cash assistance programs.
- Ensures that funder-mandated paperwork and case documentation is completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinates with other teams within the MRS department to ensure client needs are met.
- Contributes to grant reports and service plans.
- All other duties as assigned by the ELT Manager.
