Description:
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Utah Valley University is seeking an Enterprise Technology Architect to join our team and work closely with the Principal Enterprise Architect. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing technology solutions that align with the university’s strategic goals. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that our enterprise technology initiatives effectively support business objectives and deliver tangible value. Working alongside the Principal Enterprise Architect, you will oversee the core system architecture of large-scale, transformational programs, ensuring consistency, quality, and architectural integrity. Your responsibilities will include designing key technical components, frameworks, interfaces, and services that will be used across teams, as well as evaluating products, conducting proof of concepts, and managing product implementations. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of our technology landscape while making a significant impact on our organization’s success.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) and four years of experience OR any combination of education and experience totaling 8 years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
TOGAF, CISSP, GIAC, GCFE, CSSLP, ITIL, EA, SAP, AWS, MCSE, or equivalent certifications preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
- Knowledge of ensuring compliance with relevant policies, standards, regulations, and frameworks applicable within higher education.
- Knowledge in adapting the architecture roadmap periodically as the business strategy and goals evolve to ensure ongoing alignment between the business strategy and the architecture strategy.
- Knowledge to ensure designs support scalability, quality, performance, security, maintainability, and architectural integrity.
- A solid understanding of the higher education business processes, data models, systems, and applications.
- Expertise in understanding open/industry standards, current and evolving technologies, products, standards, patterns, and approaches.
- Experience with AI technologies.
Skills
- Analyzing current business processes and IT implementations to recommend solutions for improvement.
- Collaborating with other domain enterprise architects to ensure breadth and granularity of strategies, standards, design patterns, and approaches.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal/written), presentation skills.
- Experience in architectural methodologies such as TOGAF or Zachman.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Abilities
- Ability to ensure solutions are delivered in alignment with the defined architecture strategies and goals.
- Expertise in managing projects, including setting timelines, delegating tasks, and ensuring milestones are met.
- Aligning technology initiatives with business goals, creating roadmaps for future tech developments.
Responsibilities:
- Architecture Design. Develops and maintains the overall enterprise technology architecture, ensuring it aligns with business goals and industry best practices. Analyzes the current IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions.
- Documentation: Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation of the enterprise technology architecture, including diagrams, standards, and guidelines Creates and maintains business architecture models that reflect the organization’s strategies and goals. Develops and maintains enterprise architecture artifacts, such as business capability models, business model canvas, data reference models, and architecture roadmaps
- Technology Evaluation: Assesses and recommends new technologies, tools, and practices to improve efficiency and innovation. Testing activities for industry-aligned value-added business solutions.
- Solution Implementation: Oversees the implementation of technology solutions, ensuring they meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
