(WT) is a consulting firm with over 65 years of quality service that offers professional services in the southwestern United States in the fields of geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, construction materials engineering and testing, nondestructive testing, and welding inspection.
Western Technologies Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer (recent or attending for degree) in our Salt Lake City, UT office. Ideal candidate can possess (or studying for) a BS or MS in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering.
You will assist with conducting and preparing reports for geotechnical evaluations for a variety of projects including foundation, pavement, and slope stability analysis. Study the nature of ground and surface waters, soils, bedrock for land use and planning. Includes field work, logging borings, mapping, field and laboratory testing and analysis. Perform field or laboratory geotechnical testing, analysis of the strength of soil and rock, consolidation/compression/swell properties, retaining walls, slope stability, seismic refraction and refraction-micro tremor surveys for rip ability and seismic site classifications.
Assist in analyzes of soil to determine engineering characteristics
Review engineering plans
Inspect development sites
Collect/oversee soil sampling using borings and test pits
Perform/oversee laboratory tests
Assist in making recommendations regarding foundation design, soil bearing pressure, slope stability and lateral earth pressures
Assist in preparing cost proposals
Assist in writing geotechnical evaluation reports
