LNG Canada is a joint venture comprised of Shell Canada Energy (40%) and affiliates of Petronas (25%) PetroChina (15%), Mitsubishi Corporation (15%) and Korea Gas Corporation (5%). The joint venture is building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Environment Advisor will report to the Environment & Compliance Lead (Asset) and be part of a team responsible for development, implementation and continual improvement of Environmental field programs related to operation of the LNG Facility and associated fisheries offsets in Kitimat. The successful candidate will work closely with other functions within the organization including operations, maintenance, HSSE, and engineering. The role will be based in Kitimat with limited overnight business travel, as required. This is a permanent role within the Asset that spans commissioning and start-up into Operations Phase.
This role will cover all environmental aspects of the operation but will have a strong focus on field environmental programs related to fisheries and wildlife which will require a strong knowledge of both federal and provincial regulations.
THIS ROLE REQUIRES THAT YOU:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
- Live in the beautiful District of Stikine (Kitimat/Terrace). For applicants located outside of the region, you are encouraged to explore what Kitimat has to offer in terms of lifestyle including schooling, local amenities, outdoor adventure, and housing, to ensure Kitimat is where you would like to call your new home.
- Know that there will be an increased work intensity during Commissioning and Start-up (CSU) into Early Operations until Steady State Operations are achieved.
- Work 40 hours per week with potential to expand to 50 hours per week only during the CSU phase.
- Some domestic, overnight travel may be required.
- Be physically capable of executing field work that includes walking on rough terrain, through forested areas and in shallow water as well as climbing stairs, ladders, and other infrastructure. Must be able to work in inclement weather such as rain, snow, or heat. This role works 50% in open concept office, and 50% in the field (Plant and surrounding offset areas)
- Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
