Description:

You are a talented Environment Artist looking to build the next generation of games for Meta Quest. You have multiple years of experience with the Unity Editor (or other 3D game engines like Unreal) and love to create beautiful and fun environments for live-service, online games. You have a strong visual and compositional sense as well as a deep understanding of the tradeoffs required to support gameplay and performance. The ideal candidate has experience working on multiplayer levels that support gameplay goals with high quality aesthetics that set the visual bar.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years experience as an Environment Artist in high and low resolution modeling and world building/layout.
  • Possess artistic and technical expertise in these areas: scene composition, lighting, and environmental FX (bloom, color adjust, fog, etc. …)
  • Experience with material and texturing for a realistic art style using PBR.
  • Hands-on experience with game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or equivalent experience and solid understanding of optimization for memory and framerate.
  • High proficiency with Photoshop, Maya / Max, Substance Design, and ZBrush.
  • Expert in realistic environments ranging from hard surface structures to organic foliage.
  • Proven understanding of asset optimization challenges/techniques in a shipped product.
  • Experience communicating with a team and providing and receiving feedback on creative and technical areas.
  • Portfolio of highly detailed 3D art with a focus on realistic environments and variety of subject matter (buildings, props, natural landscapes, etc.)
  • Experience working across disciplines to balance the needs of stakeholders, and break down complex narratives into simple, compelling ideas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience designing and building assets and levels for games in virtual reality.
  • Experience with Perforce and/or Git.
  • Experience working with outsourcers on delivery and integration of assets.
  • A love for VR shooters.

Responsibilities:

  • Create content, including 3D modeling/sculpting, 2D texture map painting, material setup/UV layout, and LOD creation.
  • Layout environments that are fun and beautiful, using modular assets.
  • Ensure that art assets are performant and fit within their budgets for draw calls, poly counts, texture memory limits, without compromising visual quality.
  • Help define and maintain art production pipelines, tools, and systems to hit high fidelity within the constraints.
  • Develop new environment ideas that fit within conceptual designs, technical parameters, and production goals, for a live-service online game.
  • Work closely with environment artists, level designers and producers to create and refine high quality multiplayer levels.
  • Iterate level layout and visuals with the designers to address playtest feedback and improve quality.
  • Closely collaborate with the graphics team to identify techniques and approaches to content creation to continually push the quality and fidelity in the product.
  • Work closely with technical artists and engineers to help establish asset standards and innovations.
