JOB DESCRIPTION

At South Cambridgeshire District Council, we are recruiting for a Environment Response Officer to join our team to deliver high-quality and environmentally sustainable services.
As an Environment Response Officer, you will work as part of a two-person team, individually and within the wider streets team, the Environment Response Officers will work for the community to make a noticeable difference to the Environment by acting as both a rapid response team for ad hoc streets tasks and to cover a regular streets duty work base. The Environment Response officers will directly carry out work tasks such as highway verge litter picking, fly tip removal and bin installations, relief precinct sweeping duties as well as providing advice and supportive measures and equipment to parishes and volunteer groups. be responsible for driving a 3.5-ton caged vehicle and precinct sweeper, carrying out street cleaning operations, you would be required to hold a Full and Clean Driving Licence Category B.
The role will include undertaking land management audits (checking on streets standards), organising work and collaboratively working with internal and external partners to ensure services are delivered to high quality and timely standards.
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate a flexible, professional, and friendly attitude, whilst ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with the relevant guidelines to achieve customer satisfaction.
The contracted hours are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 06:00 and 14:00. Although throughout the 4-day week trial the hours are 05:45 to 14:15, if the trial is successful then these hours will stay the same.
As one of our employees you will be entitled to 25 days annual leave and will progress to 30 days after five years’ service. However, if the trial is a success, then this will be brought into line with the new working hours.

We offer a career grade average pension scheme (LGPS), you would contribute 5.8% progressing to 6.5% and the council will contribute 17% into your pension.
