Description:
- Suffolk County Council – Endeavour House, Ipswich IP1 2BX - Hybrid
- £39,513-£45,595 per annum (pro rata for part time)
- 37 hours per week
- Fixed term or Secondment to 31 March 2026 (maternity/paternity cover)

Your role and responsibilities
- a typical day in this role will see you overseeing our resident engagement activities for our multi-million pound Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure delivery programme, as well as the further development of projects to support Suffolk’s taxi sector to transition to Electric Vehicles
- daily tasks might include supporting junior members of the team in handling incoming correspondence and queries from residents, planning letter drops and social media activities, planning and delivering resident engagement events, as well as dealing with communications that require senior input and a delicate touch
- tasks will also include developing project business cases to support Suffolk’s taxi sector to transition to Electric Vehicles; in this task you will work closely with other members of the Environment Strategy Team, colleagues involved in delivering school transport, as well as external stakeholders at the Borough and District Council licensing teams
- you’ll regularly prepare easy to understand, engaging reports on your progress for the Senior Project Manager and wider EV Project Team and other stakeholders from time to time
- you will have indirect responsibility for coordinating the work of other members of the Environment Strategy Team, but no direct line management responsibilities, leaving you free to focus on effective project management
- you will be at the heart of securing funding and then delivering the projects you develop, through your efforts you will see the huge impact you have made to improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions for our county!
You will need
- you’ll bring extensive project management experience to the role; you don’t have to have a formal project management qualification, but you should be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills gained through your experience
- you will be passionate about sustainability – and in particular, about the decarbonisation of transport. This passion will be evident in your communication style and will motivate you to succeed in the role
- our ideal candidate has particular strengths around communication and community engagement; in particular, in helping residents understand complex environmental issues
- you will have a persuasive style of communication and have experience of advocating for a cause in a way that brings others on board
- an understanding of how local government operates and the role of elected Members would be an advantage
- we are keen to invite diverse backgrounds and fresh perspectives, particularly those that could help us reach groups and communities that do not often engage with County Council initiatives.

Also, enabling projects to support carbon reduction within individual homes, communities and businesses, supporting Suffolk’s transition to a low carbon economy.
