WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
You will support a risk-based programme of Assurance activities with regard to EPR taking account of other assurance and regulatory interventions. Prioritise assessment activities according to perceived risk factors and compliance issues.
- Develop the risk-based programme of Assurance activities with regard to EPR taking account of other assurance and regulatory interventions. Prioritise assessment activities according to perceived risk factors and compliance issues. Prepare the Assurance programme by considering capability constraints etc. and allocate suitably competent resources to the programme.
- Assist in setting the Policy/Standards required for EPR and Licence Condition compliance within the Submarines Business. Lead or support the timely delivery of Radioactive Substance Regulation activities as required.
- Report all assessment findings, outcomes and conclusions in a timely manner, such that areas of safety, security and environmental concern, regulatory compliance or non-agreement are clearly identified and formally communicated. Provide recommendations, observations, advice & guidance to the Director Safety, Security and Licensee Authority and relevant Dutyholders on all aspects of Environmental Compliance and RSR.
- Ensure routine engagement with the Licensee and provide RRSL Board with timely information on standards of safety and environmental performance and the management of hazards and risks with regard to EPR. Maintain good relationships with external regulators (i.e. ONR/EA/DNSR). Liaise with external regulators, corporate functions, industry working groups and benchmarking organisations.
- Actively seek and engage in development opportunities and agree an individual development plan with the Head of RP and Radioactive Waste and Environmental Permitting Manager.
- Set expectations and lead by example on environmental and RSR standards and culture. Provide subject matter expertise and represent the Submarines business on functional initiatives and lead improvements by proposing and implementing changes. Act as the Intelligent Customer (IC) for any technical work outsourced through the wider Rolls-Royce organisation or external supply chain.

- Degree level or equivalent qualification in appropriate discipline (i.e. Environmental Science or Management, Radiation Protection, Engineering, HSE, etc.).
- Experience working within Health Physics, radiation protection or radioactive waste and environment is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
- Interpersonal and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) with team leader and other members of staff.
- The ability to follow documented procedures and processes, ability to plan own work within job requirements
