Environmental Coordinators have related experience, plus the benefit of comprehensive training programs and will facilitate, implement, document and perform tasks specific to our Clients and FRPD.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science / Management, or other related field from a recognized institution
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental services

ADVANCED COGNITIVE SKILL CONSIDERATIONS

Required to:

  • Predominantly self-supervised working independently, with assistance available by phone
  • Complete work under strict deadline pressures, prioritization of same
  • Responsible for multiple simultaneous tasks and must be able to judge when to attend to each.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an Environmental Ambassador for FRPD assisting with the preparation and implementation environmental procedures and plans to improve the organizations environmental practices and minimize the impact of the company’s operations on the environment.
  • Participate in the administration of FRPD’s Environmental Management System, including ongoing monitoring of the organization’s environmental practices and activities to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Exercise interpersonal skills, including leading others and representing the company; interacting with client representative, crews, the public, and co-workers; tolerating and negotiating diplomatically with others; dealing with and analyzing situations.
  • Directly report to the Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Manager, to ensure consistent application of the Environmental Management Program; however, would also be part of a team with Group Operations. Success of the job will require a close working relationship with Business Group Leaders, Superintendents and Project Managers.
  • Assist with the environmental permitting process for various projects.
  • Support jobsites through regular environmental monitoring, including, but not limited to maintaining accurate records, water quality monitoring, sediment sampling, site audits and providing recommendations and reports as necessary.
  • Works safely. Understanding and applying company and client policies and procedures; industry practices & fundamental country/industry regulation; emergency response plans; specific job operations and equipment. Monitoring: emergency preparedness; work habits of others; providing and promoting safety. Wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Regular working hours are typically based on activities on site.
  • The environmental working conditions outdoors at times where the normal atmospheric temperatures for the region/season (+/-40 degrees C). Exposure to noisy and restricted areas and adverse weather is common. Constant negotiation of stairways (up to 43 steps) is required. Adverse conditions may include emergencies, incident investigations, and difficult people.
  • Enthusiastically accept new assignments and adapt to new situations; seek opportunities for improvement adding value to HSEQ aspects of others and workplace effort, but seldom asking of others.
