ENVIRONMENTAL ENFORCEMENT OFFICER - WEEKEND SHIFT
Manchester City Council
Salary: £13.00 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week, covering 4 out of 7 days (Friday-Monday)
About WISE: Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) is a leading supplier working with Local Authorities to tackle issues such as fly-tipping, duty of care violations, littering, and dog fouling. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology and extensive industry experience, WISE is recognized for its effective enforcement and educational initiatives in line with PACE and relevant legislation.
Main Purpose of the Role Enforcement Officer:
As an Enforcement Officer, you will patrol the borough, engage and educate community members, and enforce relevant legislation through the issuance of on-the-spot Fixed Penalty Notices.
Key Responsibilities for the Enforcement Officer:
- Patrol Duties: Conduct patrols based on an agreed deployment strategy set by your Team Manager.
- Investigation: Investigate complaints from the community and report findings to your Team Manager.
- Public Engagement: Educate the public on environmental crimes and emphasize the importance of community cleanliness.
- Enforcement: Issue Fixed Penalty Notices to offenders for authorized offences.
- Legislation Knowledge: Stay well-versed in the legislation you are enforcing, which will be covered in the Enviro Crime Induction Course.
- Documentation: Complete thorough notebook entries and witness statements for each issuance.
Ideal Candidate for the Enforcement Officer:
- Communication Skills: Able to effectively communicate with the public, even in demanding situations, and remain resilient.
- Initiative and Teamwork: Capable of using your own initiative and working well within a team environment.
- Driver’s License: Must have a FULL UK DRIVER’S LICENSE.
- Outdoor Work: Comfortable working outdoors on foot in all weather conditions.
- Writing Skills: Clear and concise writing ability.
- Physical Fitness: Physically fit to undertake prolonged foot patrols.
- Training: Successfully complete the Enviro Crime Induction Course and be competent for independent patrol.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Full UK Driver’s License is mandatory.
- Successful candidates will undergo a vetting process and must be cooperative during screening to avoid delays.
