Description:

Blue Sky Resources is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing environmental site assessments, remediation, risk assessments, and reclamation projects. This role demands a proactive individual with strong project management skills and a solid understanding of environmental regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering or environmental sciences discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications in related fields are a plus.
  • Project Management Experience: 8+ years of project management experience, including project cost and progress tracking, subcontractor procurement, and contract management. Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Environmental Consulting Experience: 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Investigations and Remediation. Experience with project management and subcontractor contract management is essential.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with provincial and federal environmental regulations. Ability to interpret and apply regulations to ensure compliance and guide project decisions.
  • Professional Sign-off Capability: Ability to provide professional sign-off on environmental site assessment and remediation reports according to the Alberta Joint Practice Standard (e.g., APEGA, AIA, ASPB) is considered an asset.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for project management, data analysis, and technical report writing.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex technical information to a variety of audiences, including clients, regulators, and team members.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage the scope, schedule, and budget for environmental site assessment, remediation, risk assessment, and reclamation projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Proposal Development: Develop strategic proposals and budgets in support of new work opportunities. Engage with clients to understand their needs and present tailored solutions.
  • Performance Accountability: Take responsibility for project performance and compliance with delivery expectations. Implement best practices to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Ensure projects meet financial goals and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Technical Reporting: Write and review technical reports, ensuring they are accurate, comprehensive, and meet regulatory requirements. Provide clear and concise communication of findings and recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work effectively with project teams, clients, regulators, subcontractors, project rights holders, and other stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships to facilitate project success.
  • Field Activities: Participate in occasional field activities, including work oversight and site inspections. Ensure fieldwork is conducted safely and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with provincial and federal environmental regulations. Ensure all projects comply with applicable laws and guidelines.
