Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for leading consulting services focused on the preparation and evaluation of performance-based contracts for the maintenance and operation of roads, facilities, and municipal assets in urban areas. This role requires the application of extensive environmental science expertise to develop comprehensive maintenance work plans aimed at reducing the negative environmental impacts of municipal operations. The Environmental Engineer will design and implement technical solutions to promote sustainability, ensure compliance with environmental regulations, and provide strategic guidance to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, project management, and communication skills, along with a commitment to fostering environmentally responsible practices in urban infrastructure projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in environmental engineering, particularly related to facilities and buildings projects.
- Proven experience in designing, developing, testing, and implementing technical solutions that lead to significant reductions in environmental impact.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in environmental assessment tools and software.
- Knowledge of current environmental regulations and standards.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience with performance-based contracting and municipal asset management.
- Familiarity with sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM).
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior staff.
