Job Summary: We are on the lookout for an EHS Manager with an entrepreneurial mindset to join our client’s 1st North American Facility in London, ON! As the EHS Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the environmental, health, and safety culture of our client’s growing operations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all EHS programs and initiatives, ensuring our client’s operations comply with regulatory requirements while promoting sustainability, safety, and operational efficiency from the ground up. In this dynamic and fast-paced role, you will have the opportunity to build and lead our client’s EHS programs, with a particular focus on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship, all while contributing to the long-term success and sustainability of our client’s business in Canada. Your expertise will be crucial in establishing strong EHS practices and ensuring the manufacturing processes meet industry standards and regulations.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (preferred).
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety management within an industrial manufacturing environment, with strong knowledge of food manufacturing regulations and sustainability practices.
· Certification in EHS-related fields is an asset.
· Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and industry standards, including health and safety laws, environmental regulations, waste management, and energy efficiency protocols.
· Proven experience leading sustainability initiatives such as energy management, waste reduction, and recycling in a manufacturing setting.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to address complex issues efficiently.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
· Proven experience in leading safety initiatives, managing audits, and implementing training programs.
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and EHS management software.
Responsibilities:
EHS Program Development & Implementation:
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs that meet corporate objectives, comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations, and promote sustainability.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and food safety regulations at all levels (local, provincial, federal). Stay informed on regulatory changes and adjust policies and practices accordingly. Conduct regular inspections, audits, and reviews to monitor compliance and drive continuous improvement.
Waste Reduction & Recycling Initiatives:
Lead waste reduction and recycling initiatives throughout the manufacturing plant, aiming to minimize waste generation and maximize material recovery. Collaborate with plant leadership to identify opportunities for process improvements that support sustainability goals.
Energy Management & Efficiency:
Oversee energy consumption within the manufacturing plant, identifying opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and implementing strategies to reduce energy usage. Work with plant operations to track energy consumption metrics, implement energy-saving projects, and ensure the plant meets sustainability targets.
Risk Management & Hazard Identification:
Identify potential EHS hazards in the workplace, conduct risk assessments, and implement control measures to mitigate or eliminate risks associated with food manufacturing processes.
Training & Education:
Develop and deliver training programs on safe work practices, emergency response, PPE usage, environmental compliance, food safety protocols, and sustainability practices. Ensure that employees at all levels are aware of their role in waste reduction, energy management, and overall EHS compliance.
Incident Investigation & Reporting:
Lead investigations of workplace accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of incidents to regulatory agencies and senior management. Use root cause analysis to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
Sustainability & Continuous Improvement:
Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement sustainability initiatives such as energy conservation, reduced waste generation, and water management. Lead continuous improvement efforts to integrate sustainable practices into daily operations.
Emergency Response Planning:
Develop, maintain, and test emergency response plans to ensure readiness for incidents like fires, chemical spills, or equipment failures. Train employees in emergency response procedures and conduct regular drills.
EHS Compliance Reporting:
Prepare and submit compliance and performance reports to senior management, ensuring all regulatory submissions, including environmental and safety reports, are timely and accurate. Track and document compliance with environmental standards, including waste management, energy consumption, and air and water quality standards.
Documentation & Record-Keeping:
Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of safety inspections, audits, training, incident investigations, and sustainability performance metrics. Ensure that documentation is in compliance with both internal company policies and regulatory requirements.
