We are looking for a proactive EHS Consultant to join our compliance auditing team. In this role, you’ll ensure client facilities meet environmental, health, and safety regulations through risk assessments, audits, and follow-up on corrective actions. You’ll collaborate with clients, document findings, prepare detailed reports, and share insights with our team and sales for further opportunities. Keeping up with relevant legislation and supporting client training is also key. This is a great opportunity to work in a collaborative, high-standard environment.
NOTE: This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, with a combination of on-site visits to customer locations and office-based or remote work for report preparation. Audit sites include a variety of properties across Ontario, with occasional travel to locations outside the province.

What you’ll do:

  • Works on compliance projects (i.e. Confined Space Assessments, Fire Plans, Emergency Response Plans, Job Hazard Assessments)
  • Prepares audits for clients by researching previous action reports and preparing a site-specific protocol for the audit
  • Verifies whether previous years’ findings are completed or still outstanding at the time of the audit
  • Conducting initial and annual risk assessments of client facilities to identify environmental, health, and safety hazards and risks
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reports which outline the characteristics of the site and all noncompliance findings, expressed as action reports
  • Responsible for audit communications with the site contact, which includes coordination of on-site activities (e.g., Start time, audit agenda, starting and close out meetings)
  • Responsible for understanding the scope of work for each audit according to current contract arrangements
  • Responsible for properly documenting all completed work on the central RiskCheck repository including all pictures, protocols, and reports
  • Facilitates additional on-site work by observing site issues and opportunities, and reports this intelligence back to the sales team
  • Tracks progress of completed reports on the QA tracker
  • Participates in regularly scheduled EHS conference calls or other suitable communication avenues
  • Monitoring and managing the safety status of client sites and communicating any relevant information to the client to ensure compliance
  • Sharing new action reports with the EHS team on the weekly conference call, or other suitable communication avenues
  • Responsible for up-to-date knowledge of all applicable legislation in the jurisdiction that is under review for each audit
  • Participates in client on-site and webinar training on various topics including health and safety
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of all applicable health and safety legislation, codes of practice, standards, and guidelines applicable to RiskCheck’s clientele

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education, preferably a degree or diploma in Health & Safety and/or related courses
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle
  • Ability to travel to client locations, as required including occasional out of province travel
  • Experience performing client relationship management
  • Experience with Health and Safety Committees and with workplace inspections
  • Working knowledge of Ontario’s health and safety legislation, as well as the National Fire Code of Canada and the Ontario Fire Code
  • Technical knowledge and experience performing EH&S Audits
  • P.Eng, CRSP, CRST certificates or other Canadian or Ontario certifications in environment, health and safety preferred
  • Experience with Compliance projects (i.e. Confined Space Assessments, Fire Plans, Emergency Response Plans, Job Hazard Assessments) preferred
