Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and promote required policies and procedures to ensure environmental, healthy, and safe work practices, and to avoid exposure to risk.
  • Advise the corporate on the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) systems efficiency and put out statistics for performance vs set targets.
  • Implement efficient internal EHS audit programs to meet legal, customer, and corporate requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all EHS legislation including completion of all necessary inspections and reports by coordinating with the JHSC.
  • Lead training sessions to educate employees, including senior management of their rights and responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Acts and Regulations.
  • Take proactive measures and exercise on-going follow up on all inspections, training, and reports.
  • Coordinate and manage all processes and legislated requirements related to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, the Ministry of Labour, as well as the WSIB Claims Management including the Return-to-Work Program (RTW), WSIB reporting, modified work, investigations, and monthly reporting.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation such as hazard assessments and reports, training records, manuals etc. to ensure compliance to all legislated requirements.
  • Oversee the incident reporting process and ensure timely investigations, root cause analysis, and appropriate follow up on all reports.
  • Coordinate with department managers to assist with development of specific policies, procedures, job standards and programs that promote environmental, healthy, and safe work practices.
  • Develop, maintain, and promote wellness within the workplace.
  • Work with the Project Managers and area owners to administer the contractor management policy and program.
  • Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
  • Compliance with the Company’s Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
  • Other duties as assigned.
