Projects include dams, bridges, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment process facilities, rail infrastructure, mining infrastructure, electrical substations, marine works and pipeline rehabilitation: the complex infrastructure needed to build better communities!
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking an Environmental Manager with a strong background in environmental science or a related field, and a deep understanding of NSW environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks. Experience in a similar role within the civil construction industry, particularly on infrastructure projects, is essential.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in managing technical environmental controls, plans, approval conditions, and regulatory requirements.
- A successful track record in developing, supporting, and implementing Environmental Management Plans, Risk Assessments, and Sustainability Management Plans in the construction sector.
- Practical experience with ISO 14001 standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to sustainability
- Willingness to travel to various project sites across NSW as required.
Responsibilities:
Join our team as an Environmental Manager in Sydney, supporting major infrastructure projects and project teams across NSW. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of significant projects in the State.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Providing guidance to Environmental Site Representatives and Project Teams (Site and Corporate) on major projects.
- Developing and approving Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) for NSW projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including the NSW EPA standards.
- Reviewing environmental approvals during the pre-contract phase to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
- Creating subplans and coordinating with specialist consultants as needed, including obtaining necessary environmental permits and licenses.
- Monitoring infrastructure project sites to ensure compliance with environmental standards and safety protocols.
- Liaising with client environmental representatives, key stakeholders, and community members to address environmental concerns.
- Promoting consistency and engagement across NSW projects, including awareness campaigns, site control checks, training, and toolbox talks.
- Participating in site establishment and conducting associated audits, with a focus on sustainability and environmental impact minimisation.
- Monitoring compliance with approval conditions and conducting regular environmental audits and inspections.
- Utilising relevant software and tools for environmental monitoring and data management.
