WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • It is essential that you are educated to degree standard or equivalent, or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of relevant knowledge with experience in an area of Environmental Health.
  • You must have a strong communication and negotiation skills, alongside the ability to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences.
  • You will have experience in Environmental Health and preferably the environmental protection area.
  • You will be able to manage your workload, prioritise and respond to demands to ensure both customer satisfaction and legislative requirements are met.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of this role, you will carry out surveys, inspections and investigations, write reports, serve legal notices and present cases in court.
  • You will act as an expert witness in Court to ensure legal requirements relating to noise and statutory nuisance, pest control, private water supplies, drainage, planning and licensing are fulfilled. This will include mediating and negotiating satisfactory outcomes to service requests from the public, Councillors and MP’s.
  • Daily you will appraise planning and licensing applications, carry out environmental assessments and recommend planning/licensing conditions, to ensure that the environmental implications are addressed.
  • You will respond when necessary to major incidents or other emergencies requiring the response of environmental services staff.
  • You will be responsible for the organisation of your personal workload including maintenance of records, writing of letters and reports and working with other team members to ensure the targets of the team are achieved.
  • You will also be expected to lead on one or more functional areas or projects with either a team or wider-service focus.
  • Using your knowledge you will contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the team’s service plan.
