JOB SUMMARY
Provides housekeeping and laundry support for the residents, staff, and visitors of a Long-Term Care Home with a resident-centred service.
Responsible to perform housekeeping & laundry procedures in accordance with the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Senior Services as well as the Fixing Long Term Care Act and regulations. Follow established work routines and as directed by the manager, to ensure a safe and clean environment for residents, staff, and visitors of the Long-Term Care Home.
EDUCATION
- Grade 12 or equivalent – required
- Completion of a recognized course in housekeeping and/or laundry – preferred
- Training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) - asset
KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE
- Up to 1 month current, relevant experience in a long-term care, health care, commercial or institutional setting
- Previous experience in operating and using commercial/institutional cleaning and laundry equipment and products
- Knowledge of resident/client safety issues and demonstrated capacity to apply resident/client safety practices
SKILLS
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to provide resident-centered support with integrity, dedication, compassion, and respect
- Strong listening, communication, teamwork and relationship-building skills
- Willingness to participate in ongoing learning, development and training (formal and informal)
- Good reading, writing and documentation skills
- Attention to detail
