Environmental Services Supervisor

at  Long Term Care Home

Permanent, full-time position
The Rekai Centres at Sherbourne Place is a ninety (90) bed non-profit long-term care home located downtown Toronto.
Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, you have demonstrated success in supervising all aspects of environmental services in a health care setting (Long Term Care preferred).

Such services include but are not limited to;

• upkeep and best practices for the Environmental department including laundry, housekeeping, and maintenance.
• Repair of air exchange units, plumbing, boilers, electrical and refrigeration systems.
• Adherence to preventative maintenance and environmental system schedules & operation with documentation for all Home’s equipment inclusive of generator with preventative maintenance and operation guidelines of best practices.
• Grounds keeping, security systems and equipment operation and maintenance.
• You will also inspect electrical appliances ensuring they are safe and approved for use.
• As the Environmental Services Supervisor, you will act as the employer lead on the Joint Health and Safety Committee ensuring processes are followed with policy review and updates including documentation and follow through for any Health and Safety issues.
• Environmental Services Supervisor will be on-call to respond to building emergencies.
• Must be hands-on to manage small repairs within the Home
• You will supervise a team of Housekeeping and Laundry Aides and Maintenance staff.
• Ensure schedules, attendance and replacement are completed in time as required.

Qualifications:

• Formal post-secondary education and training in the environmental services field
• Trade certificate in any of the following HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Boiler combined with a minimum of 5 years proven experience in the building maintenance field or equivalent knowledge and job experience.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills in a health care setting especially within vulnerable sector are considered an asset.
• Knowledge of building maintenance, housekeeping methods, laundry department operations and chemical technology.
• Experience in emergency codes and drills within a Healthcare environment.
• Working knowledge of a number of Provincial codes, standards and laws including but not limited to; the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, Municipal Building Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, Fixing Long Term Care Home Act, 2023, and Ministry of Long-Term Care and Ministry of Labour legislative standards and requirements.
