Totally Kids Rehabilitation Hospital has a position available for an Environmental Services (EVS) Technician.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Environmental Services (EVS) Technician is responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the hospital, Circlebrook, KidShip, corporate, and Kids 4 Ever house. This includes laundry, housekeeping, and janitorial tasks within each building of the organization. The EVS Technician contributes to the effective operations of the Environmental Services department by daily cleaning and supplying of patient/client rooms, treatment rooms, classrooms, restrooms, utility room, nursing stations, lounges, offices, waiting areas, and other areas as assigned in accordance with policies and guidelines.
The EVS technician uses applicable cleaning equipment products and supplies in the performance of job responsibilities. The EVS technician monitors laundering machines to clean articles such as sheets, towels, rags, wiping cloths and filters clothes by sorting. Maintains a working knowledge of department standard operating procedures. This knowledge may include the use of specialized equipment, quality control requirements, and preventive maintenance.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of one (1) month related experience and/or training in environmental services
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Must possess good work ethics and a professional image at all times
  • Knowledge of CMS conditions of participation, CDPH state regulations, CCS, and TJC (hospital, nursing care center, and laboratory) accreditation requirements as applicable to job
  • Working knowledge of computer and software applications as applicable to job
  • Possess strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Works responsibly in a team environment as well as independently
  • Manages confidential information effectively and appropriately

PRACTICE KNOWLEDGE

  • Demonstrates knowledge of current practice and the roles and functions of patient care team members as applicable to job
  • Ensures compliance with the state and federal regulatory agency standards, and policies of the organization
  • Adheres to professional association standards of practice as applicable to job

Responsibilities:

GENERAL DUTIES OF THE DEPARTMENT:

  • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner
  • Completes work within designated time
  • Operates and maintains all equipment correctly and safely as applicable to job
  • Understands and reads equipment operation manuals as applicable to job
  • Replenishes supplies and notifies EVS supervisor when supplies need to be ordered
  • Participates in the training of new employees and offers guidance, assistance, and direction to less experienced personnel
  • Works days, evening, or nights as assigned
  • Attends at least 50% of staff meetings annually
  • Participates in department quality assurance performance improvement (QAPI) activities
