INVISTA (Canada) Company, Maitland Site is looking to fill an Environmental Specialist role to join our team. The Environmental Specialist position will work with the environmental team to manage the site’s environmental programs and requires the application of technical expertise, good judgement and innovation while ensuring that the site complies with all applicable regulatory standards.
Our Team
At INVISTA’s Maitland Site manufacturing facility, the Environmental Team plays a critical role within the Environment, Health, and Safety Team, reporting to the EHS manager. The environmental specialist role is supported by onsite environmental/process engineering/operations team members. Also, the role is supported by the KOCH/INVISTA environmental networks.
What You Will Do

Providing leadership for implementing and administering the sites environmental program, including air, water, and waste facets.

  • Responsible for maintaining the environmental compliance tasks, environmental compliance reports and submissions as needed, including ensuring the integrity of the data that may be collected and used for these submissions
  • Conduct environmental, compliance and risk audits to ensure full compliance with regulations, corporate policies/procedures, and good practices
  • Represent the site on environmental subjects by liaising with internal and external stakeholders; including other sites, government agencies, contractors, and consultants
  • Provide advice and guidance to internal stakeholders such as process engineers, project leaders, operations for ongoing management of environmental matters
  • Act as a leader to prepare for and respond to, investigate, and resolve problems relating to environmental events, such as spills
  • Manage chemicals at the facility as it relates to environmental and product stewardship.
  • Promote continuous improvement efforts in the environmental arena, integrating tactical and strategic environmental action planning and execution to maximize long term value
  • Provide expert interpretation and be proactive in following changes to acts, regulations, policies, guidelines, and other requirements relating to environmental subjects
  • Supports senior environmental leaders to coordinate, and review environmental related approvals such as Environmental Compliance Approvals
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce non-compliance issues
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility with a personality that thrives in a fast-moving and ever-changing environment

WHO YOU ARE (BASIC QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Diploma/degree in Environmental or STEM program
  • One (1) or more years’ experience in a manufacturing chemical facility (including co-op/internship experience)
  • Computer software experience including excel for data analysis/trending, VLOOKUP, complex calculations, creating pivot tables to analyze and summarize large datasets
