Job Description

You will have excellent written and verbal communication, planning organisation and time management skills. You will also:

  • Have a valid and current full drivers license.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Satisfactory level of fitness for accessing field monitoring points and a willingness to be able to work outdoors in varied conditions.
  • Ability to safely drive a 4WD under site conditions.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Applied Sciences or equivalent science discipline highly desirable

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technician to join the team at Green Island. In this role, you will have the responsibility for carrying out monitoring and associated tasks in accordance with the Site Environmental Monitoring Plan and Consent Conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION WILL INCLUDE:

  • Carry out field sampling and testing in accordance with Site Environmental Monitoring Plan and Consent conditions.
  • Prepare samples for dispatch to external analytical laboratories.
  • Liaise and coordinate with external laboratories.
  • Assess test results and make recommendations to ensure compliance with consent conditions.
  • Enter results data accurately and timely into site database.
  • Provide efficient and accurate analytical test results.
  • Undertake waste sampling and testing on incoming waste loads.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory and field-testing equipment in accordance with the Equipment Calibration Program.
  • Prepare reports on environmental monitoring data for both internal and external use.
  • Update works procedures as necessary.
  • Actively support OHS requirements in all activities on site.
  • Undertake other projects from time to time as directed by the Manager.
