Our team works primarily to facilitate experiments using the Gemini laser, in particular Laser Wakefield experimental setup (EPAC prototype) in Target Area 2.
This role will assume analysis of data acquired from high-repetition rate experiment and requires knowledge of Python and understanding of data analysis.
Setting up and aligning diagnostics equipment, will require some ability in building technical equipment
The successful applicant will join the EPAC experimental delivery team, a small group of experienced laser-plasma scientists. Previous experience working with lasers and optics is desirable, but not essential. The ideal applicant would be able to demonstrate an interest or knowledge of these topics beyond an undergraduate level, knowledge of plasma physics and data analysis would be beneficial.
You would be fully encouraged to contribute your own ideas for development projects corresponding to your own skills and interests. The ability to keep accurate records, and clearly and concisely communicate ideas and results to the group is essential. Candidates should be self-motivated, with good time management and task prioritisation skills.
