ABOUT THE POST:

About Us: An exciting opportunity has arisen within the our newly created Development and Culture team for an Equality Officer.
The role will be to provide support in driving the equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) agenda across the council, supporting the Senior Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer to meet our statutory obligations, and ensuring EDI is integrated across all aspects of the council and service delivery. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Equality Officer to join our team and help us promote EDI across the council and borough.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the public sector.
  • Strong knowledge of equality and diversity legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across a variety minority audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to promoting equality and diversity.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Equality Diversity and Inclusion Officer
  • Develop and implement equality and diversity policies and practices.
  • Provide advice and support to staff and management on equality-related issues.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to raise awareness of equality and diversity.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of equality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external partners and community groups to promote inclusivity.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
