The Position
The Equipment Development Engineer will play a pivotal role in the ideation, design, and implementation of custom electro-mechanical R&D setups, such as measurement racks, test stands, and packaging equipment. This role involves not only the development of new equipment but also the troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrading of existing systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with various functions within the organization to ensure seamless tech transfer from R&D to Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ideation, Design & Implementation: Develop custom electro-mechanical R&D setups, including measurement racks, test stands, and packaging equipment
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades on existing equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Pilot Production & Process Development: Develop and maintain pilot production equipment and processes
- Tech Transfer Support: Facilitate the transfer of technology and processes from R&D to Operations
- Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Quality & Validation (Q&V), Technical Support, Model Shop, and other departments
- Project Documentation: Create accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including requirements, drawings, and schematics
Minimum Required Skills:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (Fachhochschule or University) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- CAD Proficiency: Skilled in CAD software (Solidworks or similar)
- Data Acquisition & Control Systems: Familiarity with data acquisition and control systems, both hardware and software
- Automation Control Systems: Knowledge of automation control systems and components, including pneumatic, servo, stepper, and temperature control systems.
- Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Language Skills: Proficiency in both English and German, written and spoken
