Description:

The OSS Electrical Equipment Engineer is a pivotal role within the Offshore Business, responsible for delivering the Main Electrical Equipment (MEQ) packages for major offshore wind projects in the UK.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5+ years in Electrical Engineering or a Bachelors Degree in any related field
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with EHV/HV electrical equipment in large-scale offshore wind farms and grid connections
  • In-depth experience with electrical and grid works related to offshore wind, including system studies and behaviours, as well as the engineering, procurement, construction, or operation of EHV/HV equipment.
  • Proactive and diligent, with strong planning, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, being able to convey technical information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of HSE
  • Proficiency in quality control and compliance

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the tendering, negotiation and finalisation of MEQ contracts, ensuring all technical Employer Requirements (ERs) and interfaces align with company standards.
  • Manage and oversee the electrical design activities, providing essential data for offshore and onshore substations.
  • Ensure the specification, design, manufacturing, testing, delivery, installation and commissioning of main electrical equipment meet project and industry standards.
  • Document all assessments, recommendations and decisions in line with internal procedures and best practices, ensuring technical and commercial due diligence.
  • Stay informed on the latest technical and commercial developments, identifying new technologies that could reduce costs, risks or improve safety.
  • Review and negotiate contractor/manufacturer documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Manage quality assurance/control inspections and witness key tests during the manufacturing stage, such as factory acceptance tests.
  • Ensure the successful installation and commissioning of all MEQ contract equipment, supporting the project commissioning team.
  • Capture and share lessons learned across projects, implementing mechanisms to enhance business value.
