Our geographical reach covers Waihi Beach to Otamarakau and while our focus is on hospice-at-home, we also have an established inpatient unit and we support a large community team. ABOUT THE JOB

Are you a compassionate, organised person with a high level of physical fitness, a clean full driver’s licence and mechanically inclined?
Waipuna Hospice has an exciting opportunity for a person to join our equipment team. We are looking for a person who has a high standard of presentation, excellent communication skills and strong empathy with our services. There will be some heavy lifting required.
The successful applicant will be able to problem solve and work both independently and within a team.

The role is primarily responsible for:

  • delivery and collection of loan equipment (including hospital beds, mattresses, and lazy boy chairs) to patient’s homes
  • equipment cleaning & minor maintenance of loan equipment
  • assessing donated equipment for loan purposes

Hours of work are 18 hours per week (4 days) with additional hours available from time to time to cover for team members leave.

Responsibilities:

The role is primarily responsible for:

  • delivery and collection of loan equipment (including hospital beds, mattresses, and lazy boy chairs) to patient’s homes
  • equipment cleaning & minor maintenance of loan equipment
  • assessing donated equipment for loan purpose

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A high level of fitness
  • Experience with maintenance of light machinery and equipment
  • Experience working in a health related field
  • A clean full manual NZ drivers licence
  • Good problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Good computer skills to intermediate level
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Experience in dealing with people in a sensitive manner in a health care setting and community environment
  • Have a compassionate approach and an awareness of grief and loss and feel comfortable with patients and their families/whānau who need specialist palliative care
  • A flexible approach with the ability to multitaskReliable with proven time management skill
