Description:

Are you an experienced Service Manager / Mechanic looking to work at one of British Columbia’s premier cat skiing destinations?
Baldface provides unforgettable backcountry experiences across two operations, Baldface Lodge and Baldface Valhalla. Our team of mechanics (we currently have 4) and Homies are the backbone of the operation, ensuring our equipment is running smoothly and reliably. Our mechanics are responsible for the repair and maintenance of our fleet which consists of 13 snowcats, 5 generators, 15 snowmobiles, 4 side-by-sides, 4 passenger vehicles, and 2 boats.

As we look to grow the operation, we are looking for an Equipment Service Manager who will bring knowledge and experience to all our mobile equipment needs and be responsible for:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs on snowcats, generators, snowmobiles, and other equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Track and manage parts inventory, ensuring timely ordering and availability of necessary parts.
  • Fleet Management: Maintain accurate maintenance and service records in a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Team Coordination: Work closely with the operations team to prioritize and schedule equipment servicing needs.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and regulations, conducting regular safety checks and keeping detailed maintenance records.
  • Emergency Repairs: Be on-call for urgent repairs and breakdowns during the operating season (Dec 1st to April 15th)

YOU’LL FEEL RIGHT AT HOME IF YOU HAVE GOOD PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • shop management including inventory, parts and fleet management
  • computerized maintenance management systems
  • hydrostatic drive systems
  • diesel engines
  • generators
  • snowmobiles
  • electrical systems and equipment
  • backcountry travel on sleds and side-by-sides
  • fieldwork in outdoor winter conditions
  • boat operations
  • trucking and trailering

OTHER SKILLS THAT PUT THE CHERRY ON THE CAKE:

  • basic backcountry first aid and avalanche safety
  • rigging skills
  • MIG and ARC Welding skills
  • fabrication skills
