Description:
POSITION: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Manager
DURATION OF POST: 12 months initially (Subject to Contract)
HOURS: Full time 37.5 Hours per week
YG’s core business hours are Monday-Friday 9-5.30pm however due to the nature and pressing need of our work all YG staff may be required to complete work outside of these hours.
SALARY: £27,300.00 - £30,200.00 per annum (pro rata)
HOLIDAY: 25 days per annum plus bank holidays
PENSION: Auto enrolment pension in place
JOB SUMMARY
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (E, D & I) Manager is a pivotal new role within Young Gloucestershire that bridges community engagement and organisational management to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion both internally and externally. The E, D and I manager will be responsible for understanding community needs through active engagement and co-creating impactful responses to address those needs. Simultaneously, they will guide the organisation in enhancing EDI principles into its practices, policies, and culture.
Responsibilities:
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Build relationships with diverse community stakeholders to identify and understand equity-related challenges.
- Facilitate focus groups, surveys, and consultations to gather insight and co-develop strategies for addressing community needs.
- Build relationships with key community leaders and services in diverse communities in the county.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify and develop sector priorities and delivery plans that align with community development priorities.
- Represent the organisation in the community events and partnerships to advocate for inclusive practices.
- Provide co-ordination of EDI activities and champion team to support YG with the implementation of the EDI project action plan.
- Ensure appropriate data is identified, analysed and used to identify areas of focus and track progress.
- Remain up to date with local, national, and international EDI policy and practice, acting as a source of knowledge and channel for communications.
- Manage EDI reporting mechanisms relating to progress and outcomes against EDI plans, aims and objectives.
- Act as a key link between the COO, CEO and the board of trusties, working in partnership to ensure the flow of communication, best practice, initiative and support.
- Produce and present comprehensive highlight reports to relevant stakeholders as required.
- Develop, review, and update E, D and I policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice.
- Coordinate and deliver comprehensive E, D and I training programmes for staff, volunteers, and relevant stakeholders.
- Act as a source of support, advice, and expertise for all staff.
- Collaborate with external agencies, local authorities, and other organisation to share best practice and ensure a coordinated approach to E, D and I.
GENERAL DUTIES
- When required liaise with funders, commissioners, and key personnel to manager E, D and I activities.
- Attend team meetings, supervision sessions and management meeting as arranged
- Work flexibly as may be required to carry out any other reasonable duties.
- Ensure E, D and I best practice is embedded into all areas of work and take responsibility for ensuring risk assessments and health and safety of all programmes are managed.
- To ensure that staff teams receive supervisions, training and support as required
- To ensure young people are at the centre of our services.
- To be an active member of the middle management team.
- To ensure that the work reflects the organisations commitment to equal opportunities.
- To contribute to a teamwork approach in all aspects of work.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keep up to date with current affairs and maintain an awareness of resources that may be of benefit to Young Gloucestershire.
- Complete essential training.
- Uphold Young Gloucestershire’s ethos and policies.
- Promote a positive image of Young Gloucestershire.
- Work as part of the wider organisation and undertake duties as required to ensure the strategic objectives of the organisation are achieved.
