This role is based in Newcastle on a hybrid pattern of 60% office based.
What you’ll be doing

As ER Advisor you will be responsible for:

  • Advise and coach business unit managers to effectively manage all employee relations issues in line with the HR policy & guidance tiered model across the full scope of Employee Relations (ER) cases and change activity;
  • Assimilate information and context of particular cases in order to educate, coach and develop line managers through a range of Employee Relations interventions, resulting in their improved understanding and ability to prevent and / or manage future issues;
  • Develop and maintain personal expertise and best practice across the team, actively share knowledge and case management experience, in order to maintain consistency of approach. Applying expertise and judgement to complex and demanding cases;
  • Adopt a partnership working approach across the broader HR community, working with other HR team members to deliver a seamless ‘one team’ service to the business;
  • Ensure effective, timely case management of people related issues;
  • Develop positive, collaborative working relationships both internally and externally;
  • Work with Lead ERBP in terms of business priorities and the creation of data packs and trackers.

Who we’re looking for

The following qualities and experience are essential:

  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated through a variety of methods but with particular emphasis on telephone skills;
  • Proven experience of effectively utilising a variety of effective influencing skills to achieve business aims and objectives;
  • Proven ability to work without close supervision, a self-starter who enjoys working as part of a team but who is equally comfortable working on their own, utilising their initiative in an effective manner;
  • Strong organisational, planning, time and project management skills with evidence of ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining quality, accuracy, attention to detail and high standards;
  • Strong decision making skills. Able to make timely, informed decisions that take into account the facts, goals, constraints and risks. Balances analysis, wisdom, experience and perspective when making decisions;Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity in all matters, displaying appropriate judgement and initiative when required

The following qualities and experience are desirable:

  • CIPD Qualified or studying towards;
  • Experience of providing a true consultancy service to business leaders. Able todemonstrate a positive approach to customer service and focus on delivering customer requirements;
  • Proven ability to demonstrate an understanding of the business and how HR can support the delivery of business goals.
