Description:

The ERSEA specialist must be self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, and able to manage time well in an extremely fast paced school environment. Strong communication skills are important as this job will be working with families, children, other school partnerships and community resources. Ability to advocate for and have experience working with children and families living in poverty and who have experienced trauma.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or similar degree Experience working with at-risk children and families

  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to the accuracy of data and enrollment process
  • Ability to communicate with families on a daily basis ie. in person or via phone and email.
  • Ability to use a computer without accommodation and maintain daily electronic correspondences i.e. Word, Google Docs, Excel, Childplus, Procare
  • Able to make sound decisions in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrates high level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to handle questions, issues, and provide detailed information on agency requirements, processes, and policies.
  • CPR and First Aid Certified. (Training paid and provided by the Operation Breakthrough)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Kansas City Public school system or related programs
  • Head Start experience preferred but not required
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience working in social services or related field

Responsibilities:

Supports families and Operation Breakthrough with the school enrollment process Assess if families are eligible for care-subsidy at enrollment.

  • Inform families about our internal agency services, including food, clothing, diapers, financial assistance, and health and mental health services.
  • Communicate and partner with our partnering programs, School Age program, and MARC to ensure compliance with school enrollments, monitor the active waitlist for our Partnering programs.
  • Helps coordinate mandatory orientation, and enrollment for all assigned incoming families with the ERSEA Team and attend School Fairs in the community (Partnering programs include Early Head Start, Head Start, Kansas City Pre-K Cooperative, School Age Village, Kansas City Public Schools, and other charter schools.)
  • Timely correspondence with current/ future families by collecting information and ensuring that applications are completed correctly, that required supporting materials have been provided in a timely manner, while offering the individualized support our families might need to get through the process.
  • Maintains open communication with leadership and collaborates in ensuring compliance with Partnering Programs.

    Collaborates during weekly supervision sessions with ERSEA Coordinator. Complete Monthly Reports and submit to ERSEA Coordinator.

  • Complete and submit all paperwork by the required deadlines; completing reports as specified and or as needed.

  • Assists with the transition of families through the enrollment process into one of the programs, including transitions into Head Start, Pre-K collaboratives, and Kindergarten.
  • Attends weekly Team Meetings, and other interdisciplinary meetings as needed
  • Works fluidly and consistently with the Clinical, Disabilities, FCE, and Education and Medical Team.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings and other professional activities as determined by the ERSEA and Social Services Department or other agency administration.
  • Assists neighborhood family advocate with addressing attendance needs and monitoring
  • Assists social service team at weekly or annual events as needed.
