- Good understanding of ESG & Climate issues & market, financial services and how ESG & Climate factors impact capital markets and financial institutions
- 3+ years of experience, preferably in a client facing position in financial services, service provider or Responsible Investing
- Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills.
- Innovative, motivated, client-oriented and commercially aware thinker
- Demonstrated project management skills - define scope, resources and timelines and manage to deliver
- A team player able to effectively manage the expectations of a diverse and demanding client base
- Absolute personal and business integrity
- Experience integrating ESG or climate for multiple asset classes (Equity, Fixed Income, private equity, infrastructure, private companies, real estate etc.) would be advantageous.
- MBA, CFA charter or Masters Degree preferred

YOUR TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
MSCI is seeking to expand its ESG and Climate Consultants team in Sydney, Australia. MSCI ESG Research is a leading provider of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and data, models and tools to different capital markets participants globally. Successful candidates will have previous experience working in a client facing position in financial services and / or on a wide range of ESG and Climate topics (risk management, sustainability strategy, compliance, product creation, etc.) at financial institutions or consultancies covering financial institutions. They also exhibit a passion for these issues.
To succeed in the role a consultant must have proven abilities to develop strong working relationships with external clients, learn MSCI ESG and climate solutions and guide clients to better use those solutions in the context of each client specific requirements also leveraging other MSCI Analytics, Index or Private Assets solutions.
Consultants are adaptable, eager problem solvers, and able to lead cross-organization projects in highly diverse teams. Great communications skills are a must as they represent MSCI ESG and Climate to all levels of client management.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities cover a wide spectrum including proactive account management and client communication, account retention rates, and pre-sales activities when needed. In the pre-sales role, the Consultants partners with the sales team, bringing industry and product expertise to advanced client meetings. After a client has begun using MSCI ESG and Climate solutions, the Consultant owns and manages the client experience, which entails offering proactive support, expertise on MSCI ESG and Climate solutions and market insights relevant to each client use case. Key responsibilities include:
- Act as a trusted advisor for clients and their advocate within MSCI ESG and Climate Research with ESG and Climate Expertise Focus
- Serve as domain expert on MSCI ESG Research’s suite of ESG and Climate solutions and services
- Leverage cutting edge MSCI solutions to deliver a holistic approach to clients’ ESG and Climate investing challenges
- Build-up ESG and Climate industry expertise to guide client in integrating ESG and Climate research into their investments processes and risk management.
- Relationship Management Focus: achieve target renewal rate, drive revenue growth with outstanding client engagement and service
- Develop/drive account management plans for all clients; Monitor and ensure client satisfaction, while identifying accounts at risk and create a plan to ensure revenue and client retention; working with cross-functional teams to address issues in a timely manner
- Conduct regular calls/visits with clients (health checks, trainings and workshops, relationship planning and review), requiring some professional travel
- Act as liaison between the clients and internal MSCI ESG and Climate Research teams for key client initiatives.
- Take ownership for projects to help improve client service delivery and team efficiency
- Communicate market requirements to ESG & Climate Research business leaders
