With evolving ESG reporting regulations, companies must understand their impact on people and the environment, closely linked with finance-related data. The ESG Controller plays a crucial role in connecting these elements, ensuring compliance and excellence in ESG reporting.
This position is part of Amer Sports’ Financial Reporting team within the Chief Accounting Officer organization. The ESG Controller will collaborate with various stakeholders to meet global ESG regulatory reporting requirements. This role works closely with the Sustainability Team to support both mandatory and voluntary ESG reporting, enhancing systems, processes, and controls.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a subject matter expert on global ESG reporting within the Financial Reporting team, managing new ESG standards and related accounting/reporting policies in coordination with Finance and the Sustainability Team.
- Provide support to Global Finance, Accounting, and other teams in implementing new ESG reporting standards and coordinating with external advisors.
- Draft ESG disclosures, improve data quality and processes (especially related to ESG and finance data), and collaborate with IT to enhance efficiency through automation.
- Offer ESG reporting and accounting support and training to finance and accounting teams worldwide.
- Develop and maintain the ESG reporting handbook and policies for global use, aligned with relevant regulations (e.g., CSRD).
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather, analyze, and verify data for consolidated ESG reporting and work with internal and external auditors.
- Establish and maintain an ESG governance and control framework in partnership with the Risk & Controls, Internal Audit, and Sustainability teams.
- Stay informed of changes in ESG reporting regulations and standards and implement necessary adjustments to policies and processes.
- Support finance-related projects and initiatives as needed.
