Description:

The Group Sustainability Officer (GSO), together with the Group ESG Office, develops the sustainability strategy and is responsible for all of the Group’s strategic sustainability agendas. It develops central ESG guidelines, defines ESG governance and financing rules. It also ensures transparency on the results of Erste Group’s sustainability measures and the local ESG Offices.

Responsibilities:

  • Governance and Reporting: establishes lead-cross functional work and ensures a very good overview and understanding of legal, regulatory and public policy measures in the field of sustainability; regularly monitors, analyzes and informs the organization on ESG regulatory developments within the banking sector and relevant industries affecting our clients (including CEE countries). Regularly monitors sustainability policies and ensures updates of policies and relevant internal frameworks accordingly
  • External Stakeholder Engagement with Regulators:
  • Together with Prudential Affairs and Stakeholder Management, plays an active part in consultations and driving key ESG topics
  • European Central Bank (ECB): collaborates, coordinates and leads on key input, content and feedback, if supervisory actions fall under the responsibility of the GSO office. Ensures a clear and well readable strategic approach of the Group
  • Internal Stakeholder Management: Supports business units on interpretation on legal requirements and risk units in decision processes and training sessions (e.g. RFP roll-out trainings); initiates and contributes to business activities, ensuring swift expertise and knowledge transfer of specific climate, environmental and social topics
  • CSRD Reporting and ESG Project Coordination: Supports the organization and the ESG Group Office to implement and enhance CSRD reporting and disclosure, driving awareness across the organization
