    Excellent opportunity to join our multi-skilled Estates Grounds team in a vibrant school environment utilising your proven skills across our beautiful estate in Lavington Park near Petworth, West Sussex.
    The role involves the upkeep and maintenance of the estate grounds circa 455 acres set within South Downs National Park. Responsibilities in delivery of first class fine and sports turf sports facilities including our golf course and first class cricket facilities, horticultural maintenance and upkeep of the estates trees and woodlands management programme.
    We are looking for a multi-skilled individual to join our in-house maintenance team on a permanent full time contract. As an excellent team player, you will need to be adaptable and an excellent communicator. RESPONSIBLE TO: Estate Manager (Grounds)
REPORTING TO: Head Groundsman
DEPARTMENT: Estates and Operations
JOB PURPOSE: Integration into the existing Operations Department with a focus towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Estates grounds of over 450 acres, including all sports facilities and woodland landscape to a high standard. The role encompasses all aspects of ground care, including fine turf, sports turf, hard surface and ornamental areas.
Maintenance duties on a variety of external buildings including services, drainage, fencing, paths and roadways. Responsibility for ensuring regular maintenance is carried out on equipment and machinery to manufacturer’s recommendations along with annual servicing programs
Assisting and working alongside other members of the department to support college events and general maintenance together with other reasonable duties as required. Minibus driving on a regular basis, (training for minibus driving will be given if required).

TEAMWORK:

· Be an active member of Operations team
· Engage and work in conjunction with team members, staff and associates of the college showing a polite and professional manner at all times
· Maintain and improve on skills / CPD relevant to the role
· Undertake such other tasks relevant to the work or needs of the College as these needs arise and as may be reasonably requested

Responsibilities:

  • The focus of this role is to train in the maintenance and preparation of High-quality Cricket wickets across 4 Tables, plus Artificial net and match facilities
  • Assist the team with the preparation, maintenance and development of the golf course, rugby pitches and all other fine turf sports facilities
  • Undertake multi-disciplined maintenance duties to a high standard using the appropriate tools, equipment and machinery
  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on a variety of different landscapes and buildings
  • Maintain hard standing areas such as pathways, roadways, car parks and drainage ditches
  • Support the Operations Department team members with service provision
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Line Manager
  • Maintain a flexible attitude to the role and working hours to accommodate. Some additional hours may be required, with a focus on Saturday attendance, which will be paid accordingly
