Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
A full-time Research Service Professional (RSP) position is available at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes-Clinical Epidemiology Division. This position will be part of the Early Stage T1D Education and Support (ESTES) team, a multi-center funded research and clinical implementation project sponsored by the Helmsley Charitable Trust (HCT). The goal of ESTES is to implement an evidence-based model of early diagnosis of T1D, education and monitoring including one-on-one and group education, personalized monitoring and innovative use of telemedicine and cloud-based mobile software. The program will address disparities in the access to care for those with geographic, language and socio-economic barriers by collaborating with local providers to complement local in-person medical care.
The RSP will be responsible for study recruitment, conducting and coordinating local and remote/telehealth study visits, including education on different approaches to monitor in the early stages of T1D. A successful candidate will professionally collaborate with the study team of researchers and clinicians to effectively monitor and educate study participants.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in science or health related field
- Two (2) years of clinical research or related experience
- Pediatric phlebotomy/IV experience or willingness to complete competency within 3 months of hire.
- Experience in implementing a variety of learning strategies and knowledge of learning management systems

- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

Responsibilities:
- Assist the ESTES Program Manager with conducting all aspects of study protocol with a predominant focus on the local site (Barbara Davis Center, BDC) in this multi-center study.
- Independently perform various administrative and operational duties involved in study recruitment of children with stage 1 and stage 2 type 1 diabetes (TID), high-quality data collection and documentation, education and monitoring of participants.
- Track, coordinate and conduct research visits
- Implement clinical research data collection protocols, including phlebotomy, clinical measurements, and interviews with children and their parents.
- Performs Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) and Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) placement
- Instruction on the use of glucometers for blood glucose testing.
- Facilitate the education program with parents and children at the BDC utilizing online modules, a telemedicine-based approach and one-on-one instruction.
- Supports other bilingual clinical staff in translation of study documents and development of culturally specific strategies to ensure understanding and adherence to the study protocol by Spanish-speaking family members.
