£46,353 - £55,842 – the band minimum is the normal starting pay for those new to a role. In exceptional circumstances, when relevant skills and experience can be identified, a higher starting salary may be considered.

British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is looking for an exceptional Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) to join the crew of the RRS Sir David Attenborough. BAS delivers and enables world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions. Responsibilities:
SOME OF YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Operation and maintenance of main switchboards, electrical power distribution systems, navigation and communications equipment. Including domestic, daughter craft & LSA equipment.
- To ensure that all electrical and electronic equipment assigned to his care is maintained to Statutory and Class requirements/standards where relevant, and to comply with the IEE/IET Regulations for the Electrical and Electronic Equipment of Ships with Recommended Practice for their Implementation.
- To manage and be the maintainer of the GMDSS radio station and communications equipment
- To operate and execute the planned maintenance system for such equipment, and maintain records accordingly.
FOR THE ROLE OF ELECTRICAL TECHNICAL OFFICER WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS:
- Seafarer Medical Certificate (ENG1) without restrictions
- UK ETO CoC / CEC
- Four Elements of STCW basic training to STCW 2010, as amended (PST, FPFF, EFA & PSSR)
- Proficiency in Designated Security Duties
