BASIC FUNCTION:
Teagasc is seeking a highly-motivated professional to perform the role of European Support Officer in the EU-funded RefreSCAR project, coordinated by Teagasc. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Working Groups of the Standing Committee on Agricultural Research (SCAR). The core tasks will include providing assistance for SCAR Working Group meetings and activities, including administrative and analytical support, and supporting the implementation of Teagasc-led activities in the project.
The successful applicant will become a core member of the Teagasc Project Management Team for RefreSCAR and enjoy the dynamic and supportive team environment within the Teagasc Research Support Office. This position will offer opportunities for travel, growth and development, including mentorship, and provide a clear link between their work and impact in the organisation at a national and a European level.
QUALIFICATIONS
- An honours Level 8 degree, (as recognised on the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent), in Science, ICT, Agriculture, Food Science, Engineering, Business, Humanities or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate degree and/or research experience in Science, ICT, Agriculture, Food Science, Engineering, Business, Humanities or a related discipline would be a distinct advantage.
- 2 years’ experience in a research or agricultural advisory environment
SKILLS
- Excellent organisational and project management skills
- Strong communication and writing skills to include reports and presentations
- Computer literate, with proficiency in the use of MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Networking and influencing skills.
- Ability to search for, organise, critically evaluate and present information relevant to a topic.
KNOWLEDGE
- Understanding of project management processes and requirements
- Understanding of event organisation and facilitation
- Understanding of the European Research Area.
- Understanding of the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS).
