Description:
The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.
Position Title: Event Manager (AMS Events Block Party)
Reports to: Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications
Supervises: AMS Events Associates and Volunteers
Employee Status: Temporary, Part-time, Hourly
Start & End Date: December 2024 – April 30, 2025
Hours: 15 to 20 hours total in December; 10 to 15 hours/week from January - February; 20 to 35 hours/week in March; 10 to 20 hours/week in April
Compensation: $30.00 per hour

The AMS of UBC is looking for a dynamic and experienced event planner to help us with Block Party, our annual Last-Day-of-Class concert outside on the UBC plaza. This role involves coordinating all aspects of the event, from working with booking agents to secure top-tier talent, to managing logistics and ensuring a memorable experience for attendees. The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record in event planning, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
