About the Role
Capital One is looking for a strategic, results-driven events professional to join our communications team in Mexico City. You’ll be responsible for leading exceptional technology and recruiting event experiences that grow our reputation as a tech leader and an employer of choice. You’ll engage and inform technologists about life at Capital One, our innovative tech and world-class workforce, our distinctive company culture, and our commitments to changing banking—and the communities around us—for good.
About You
You understand the power of great experiences and their ability to influence behavior, change perception and build reputation. You’re passionate about building and strengthening our brand with the technology community through tech conferences, hackathons, recruiting invitationals, open houses, and more. You’re eager to identify—and share—insights that shape brand and recruiting experiences that start conversations, encourage engagement and drive action.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Intermediate-Advanced English fluency
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field
  • At least 5 years experience in event management, field marketing, or related roles
  • At least 2 years experience in tech industry

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master of Business Administration, Master’s in Marketing, or Master’s in Communication, or related field
  • 1+ years of technology industry experience in Marketing or related fields, including Public Relations, Communications or Program Management, or event production agency experience
  • 1+ years of financial services or other highly regulated industry experience
  • 1+ years of experience in planning external conferences with booth activation
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Establish an event strategy and detailed roadmap to grow our reputation as a technology leader and employer of choice with technologists in Mexico
  • Plan, coordinate and execute engaging and impactful events, including conferences, meetups, hackathons, workshops, online webinars, recruiting invitationals and open houses
  • Manage all aspects of event logistics, including selection and management of vendors, partners and venues, event communications, budgeting, registration, scheduling and coordination of all day-of logistics for in-person and virtual events
  • Travel as needed to manage and attend events, conferences and meetings
  • Proactively track, evaluate and share event results against goals
  • Collaborate and partner closely with cross-functional partners to implement a range of strategies and creative solutions to reach key target audiences
  • Ability to influence in meetings with senior management regarding event strategy and ensuring proper compliance from start to finish
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on the systems and tools associated with planning and executing events, using their knowledge to influence and inform senior leaders
  • Cultivate partnerships and relationships with industry influencers, thought leaders, and potential event partners
