Voted one of the Gold Coast’s most popular tourist destinations, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS) is the crown jewel of the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) [NTAQ] properties. As one of Queensland’s earliest nature-based tourist destinations, the Sanctuary is a physical embodiment of everything the NTAQ represents: to conserve and advance our natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
We are seeking a dynamic Events Manager to lead our events team and ensure the seamless execution of a wide range of events at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS) and our newest venue, The Homestead. In this role, you’ll manage all operational aspects from planning to post-event analysis, working closely with vendors, clients, and internal teams. Your leadership will be pivotal in delivering exceptional events that leave a lasting impression and continue our award winning success.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have relevant experience in a similar role in a diverse and dynamic organisation. Other key skills we are looking for include;

  • Proven experience within Events specifically Functions/Conferences/Banquet operations delivering varied event experiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to use superior negotiation skills to secure sales.
  • Demonstrated experience converting enquiries to sales with the ability to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Self-motivated, results-orientated and a positive and proactive approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare internal reports that meet business needs and relevant administrative skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Qualifications in a relevant field of Business, Tourism or Event Management will be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in event management software and MS Office Suite.
  • Current Queensland RSA certification & Driver’s license is essential. RMLV is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work school holidays, public holidays and weekends as required,

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Leading the Events department, the Events Manager will focus on the acquisition, co-ordination and delivery of event bookings at CWS. As a multi-skilled professional you will have experience designing a memorable client experience and maximising revenue opportunities. You will be responsible for enabling delivery of high quality, diverse event experiences within a unique natural environment comprising both indoor and natural outdoor event spaces.
Reporting to the Head of Sales and Events, the Events Manager will manage incoming and online event enquiries and assist with generation of new business while working closely with the Business Development Manager – Events to develop and implement sales strategies and plans.
Developing and managing event budgets, timelines, and logistics is a crucial part of the role. Leading and mentoring the events team to achieve high performance and continuous improvement is also essential. The Events Manager will implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance event quality and efficiency. Troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during the event planning and execution process is a key responsibility, together with ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Your solid relationship building skills will ensure a positive experience for the client, negotiating event packages to exceed client’s expectations while managing costs within budget. You will develop and deliver end to end event arrangements for both internal and external clients and ensure the Events and Operations team work effectively together to execute exceptional events seamlessly.
