The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
In this role you will be accountable for the day to day delivery of the evidential property service and the implementation of policy relating to the acquisition, retention, storage, retrieval and disposal of property (seized and found).
You will also be accountable for the delivery of:
- A high quality, consistent and professional service to customers in line with clearly defined service specifications.
- Managing and developing the Evidential Property staff to maximise their potential and to deliver efficiencies where possible.
- To comply with all statutory requirements both proactively and responsively in order to ensure safe working environments are maintained.

Skills & Experience
QUALIFICATIONS • Business or management degree or equivalent management experience gained in a similar role • IOSH Certificate Working Safely • IOSH Certificate Managing Safety in the Workplace
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE · Proven, demonstrable experience of working in an evidential property stores environment, · Experience of supervising and motivating a team; using tact, initiative and independent judgement within policy and procedure. · Experience of leading teams through organisational change · Evidence of an up-to-date and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) plan. · Demonstrable knowledge and application of legislation and statutory requirements for the seizure, retention and disposal of evidential property. · Demonstrable knowledge and application of legislation and statutory requirements of Health & Safety particularly relating to the handling and storage of hazardous items, lone working and working at height. · To have a methodical, accurate and organised approach, with an eye for detail and a proven track record of applying best practice investigative techniques, for reviewing, recording and applying decisions for the retention or disposal of seized property. · Ability to work independently using own judgement to make dynamic and informed decisions in the resolutions of issues that present themselves · Have the ability to act in the organisation’s best interest whilst managing the expectations of a demanding and ever-changing environment. · Strong operational skills including resource planning and time management. · Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to co-ordinate projects and manage deadlines. · Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively and fluently with a range of people using influencing and coaching skills to build trust and confidence. · Good decision making and negotiation skills with the ability to influence decision makers at all levels, including the ability to upwardly challenge where necessary. · Strong analytical skills and an attention to details when carrying out audits and evaluating/ highlighting exceptions in data reports · Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to deliver difficult messages effectively and cohesively. · Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and Project. · Experience of business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
