JOB DESCRIPTION
The Second Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch has an immediate opening for an Executive Assistant in the Court Administration office in Fort Dodge, Iowa. This position will perform administrative duties, that require significant attention to detail, for the District Court Administrator and Chief Judge of the Second Judicial District.
The starting salary for new State employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The starting pay for this position is $24.16 hourly / $50,252.80 annually. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience.
Location: Webster County, Fort Dodge, Iowa
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) with considerable experience in a professional office environment and six (6) years of experience in a court or court-related entity.
Or, graduation from an administrative assistant, legal assistant or paralegal training program and two years of experience in a court or court-related entity.
Or, graduation from an accredited college or university in public, business, or criminal justice administration.

- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge of English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Knowledge of court organization, functions, procedures and legal terminology
- Ability to interact with the public, judges, attorneys, and government officials in a variety of situations and circumstances
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Passion for pursuing common goals in pursuit of public service
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solve
Under the direct supervision of the District Court Administrator, this Executive Assistant position will perform administrative support duties for the District Court Administrator, the Chief Judge, and other court personnel as necessary. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, preparing correspondence, creating spreadsheets and other documents, compiling various statistics, receiving visitors, answering phones, opening and distributing mail, and arranging appointments or interviews as necessary. In this role, you will travel within the Second Judicial District, as needed.
