Description:

A unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the First Peoples - State Relations Group as Executive Assistant at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
Working within the Treaty Negotiations and Strategy Branch, the Executive Assistant will support the delivery of branch priorities by providing high quality, responsive and confidential secretarial, administrative and executive support to the Treaty Negotiations and Strategy Division Executive Director.
The successful applicant will possess effective project management skills, strong administration (records, finance, coordination) and information technology skills, and be effective in a dynamic work environment. You will be comfortable working with stakeholders and providing sensitive support to Treaty Negotiations and Strategy managers and executives.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated professional or lived experience commitment to the rights of First Peoples in Victoria or Indigenous people more generally including cultural rights, self-determination, Treaty and truth.
  • Proven experience in performing high quality support activities to senior executives, including proof-reading and processing briefs, correspondence and products for senior executives and the Minister.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with sound experience planning, prioritising and managing a range of competing tasks, with high attention to detail and ability to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Sound ability to clearly and confidently communicate with people at all levels of the organisation and ability to identify key messages and information and ensure communications are understood.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve common goals and manage risks.
  • Sound understanding of the processes, policies and procedures within government and public sector accountability, with proficiency in a range of software programs such as Outlook, HP Content Manager, FinCloud, Adobe and Microsoft packages.
  • Strong interpersonal effectiveness, teamwork and cultural sensitivity with the ability to collaborate and support others in the pursuit of common goals and approaches differences in opinion positively and seeks solutions with mutual benefit
