About us
The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is located within the School of Academic Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience Denmark Hill campus. Due to move into the new Pears Maudsley Centre in 2025, the Department us currently largely situated in its own building adjacent to the main Institute building.
The Department has recently undergone significant expansion and now includes 7 Professors,1 Reader, and 6 senior lecturers as substantive academic appointments. Members of the Department work closely with clinical colleagues at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, a well as other colleagues across the IoPPN and King’s more widely.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic executive assistant to work closely with Professor Simonoff in her research and teaching roles. The post-holder should enjoy the context of a busy research environment that involves liaising with a wide range of people locally and internationally. A flexible, helpful and courteous approach to work is important.
The post-holder will be a member of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department and will work closely with other members of its professional services, as well as more widely in the School of Academic Psychiatry, across King’s and with national and international collaborators.
The post-holder will be required to deal with communications and complex diary management. They will have a good understanding of the recently implemented Faculty workstream model and will assist colleagues by signposting where tasks should appropriately be assigned.
This is a part time post (14 Hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract for 6 months.
The days of working can be negotiated with the agreement of the line manager, Professor Simonoff. It is expected that the post-holder will work on-site for a minimum of 0.2 FTE, but should be prepared to work on site more often as required for the role functions.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Previous EA and/or administrative experience along with complex electronic diary management
- Ability to manage and prioritise own workload, and to work in an efficient and unsupervised way
- Strong IT skills and knowledge of the whole MS Office suite, including One Drive, Forms etc
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
- Good written communication skills and an ability to produce papers and other documents clearly and concisely.
- Produces work with an eye to accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
Desirable criteria
- Previous administrative experience in higher education, a clinical setting or similar environment.
- Good understanding of the research funding environment and research grants administration.
