The Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences (SHS) represents areas of knowledge where humanities and social science meet. The interests and methods of the eight component departments (Anthropology, Archaeology, Economics, Geography, History, History of Art, Institute of the Americas, Political Science), together with the interdisciplinary Institute of Advanced Studies, offer excellent opportunities for innovative and collaborative research. Each of the departments carries out world leading research in its own field. There are more than 6000 students and over 1000 members of staff in the faculty, of whom three quarters are academic, teaching and research staff, and one quarter professional services.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Executive Assistant (EA) is a key member of the SHS Faculty Office. The post holder will provide a range of proactive support to the Dean and Director of Operations (DoO) through actively managing their diaries, organizing and preparing papers for meetings, processing finance and personnel records, and generally acting as the first point of contact for the Dean’s Office. The role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL thus a professional attitude, willingness to help, and ability to remain tactful and assertive are required in order to adequately execute the duties outlined. To take role in the management of the office; mentoring and guiding members as necessary and ensuring procedures are recorded and kept up to date. In addition, the role holder will be a first point of contact for a variety of staff, students, visitors, direct reports and team, and will apply their knowledge of UCL to respond to queries and support activities.
