ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary experience, a flair for creating exceptional food & strong leadership abilities.
REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards including Safe Food Handlers Certificate
- Completion of post-secondary education in Culinary Arts
- Minimum 5 - 7+ years experience working in a kitchen environment
- 2 + years in a managerial role with administrative duties and managing teams
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- A diplomatic personality with the ability to foster relationships
- High standards of ethics, honesty and integrity
- Self-motivated, self-directed individual who requires minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
This is a permanent year round on site position reporting to the Owners. The candidate will be responsible for a team of 4 to 75, depending on the time of year. Applicants must be flexible and available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure consistent food preparation and the highest calibre of food presentation and quality at all times
- Plan, prepare and lead food tastings for owners/key stakeholders approval
- Monitor food costs, labour expenses, without compromising quality
- Ensure kitchen is in pristine working condition
- Ensure supplies and kitchen tools are always available
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment to operate safely and efficiently
- Complete inventories of all food, beverage, dry and stock products
- Prepare , create and execute recipes
- Strong leadership skills a must, being able to motivate, coach, train and mentor the team
- Live the Pingle’s Mission, Vision and Core values daily
- Participate in management meetings
- Uphold all health and safety regulations
- Scheduling of kitchen team
- Excellent organizational skills, at time may be required to run 2 kitchens simultaneously
- Other duties as assigned
